Copyright Letter

Dear Copyright Holder,
We are seeking permission to use one of your songs in our A Level music video by The Fray. This song we would like to use is ‘You Found Me’. If we are granted permission we would use your song in our A2 Media Studies music video which involves not only creating the music video, but an advert for both the album and magazine featuring the artist.
This song would only be used for education purposes and only the OCR exam board, those within my media class and my teacher would be able to view the music video itself. It would not be released for viewing by a large audience.
Both the artist and your institution would receive recognition through both the process of pre-production and during the creation of the final piece itself. A copyright notice from you would be included in our project and if this is required please let us know as soon as possible.
Yours Sincerely,
Nathan Russell

Our Song

After much deliberation, we have chosen to make a music video for "You Found Me" by The Fray. We feel that this is a great song, that we all like and believe that we can create a greate music video for.

All About Me

The media plays a key role in day to day life. If anybody says that the media does not effect them, they are lying! The media plays a key role in the day to day running of the world, as well as social networking and the way that we receive information as a whole. My favorite part of the media is the use of smart phones. Be it an I Phone, Blackberry or HTC we can access any videos, pictures, news or information that we wish too, when we want too. Without such technology my world would be completely different...

For my AS product I was working with Nathan Russell and Jacob Caria-Preen, and we created Legion a horror film revolving around a demonic creature that makes its victims disintegrate without trace. I feel that we worked well within our group, getting our tasks completed by the deadline that we had set ourselves, well before they were due. I also felt that the filming and editing processes were completed very well, to a high standard. I learnt many new skills, including how to use Adobe After Effects and how to improve my writing in a critical media way. I think that there were elements during the A2 course that we could have improved on, for example our use of After Effects. It would have been a good idea to do a lot more practice before we edited our final piece within After Effects, so that we were able to show our full potential and make it that little bit better.

During the A2 course, I would like to carry on developing my editing skills, by taking charge of certain sections to edit. I would also like to focus on my directing skills so that my music video is the best that it can possibly be. Hopefully with the strong group that I now have, we will have one of, if not the best music video this year!
